Part 2: Part two of this two-part webinar series focuses on creative integrated counseling techniques and challenges that are often addressed in couples counseling. Topics that will be covered in this webinar include: common challenges that bring couples to therapy and counseling techniques to overcome those challenges.
Learning Objectives:
1.Part 1: 1. Identify what is currently happening in couples work. 2. Examine the barriers that frequently come up in couples work. 3. Explore an integrated model of therapy in couples counseling.
2.Part 2: 1. Examine challenges that are frequently addressed in couples counseling. 2. Identify different techniques that could be used in couples counseling to address those challenges.

Let’s unpack consensual nonmonogamy (CNM) and polyamory. Counselors will address misconceptions about polyamory and CNM, explore the impact of counselor bias, and learn how to provide affirming services for this community. The presenters will cover core concepts and definitions, describe relationship structures, and provide practical clinical strategies. Counselors will discuss working with diverse clients and building clients’ sense of wellness and community. Participants will receive a handout of resources.
Learning Objectives:
1.Participants will learn about core concepts in polyamory and the various forms of consensual non-monogamy.Ê This will include various relationship configurations that commonly exist within CNM relationships and various approaches that polyamorous individuals may take to practicing polyamory.
2.Participants will understand the implications of various identity factors like race, class, age, and affectional orientation on individuals practicing CNM.Ê Counselors will examine intersectionality and the impact various factors may have on client's experiences.
3.Participants will learn about strategies and interventions when working with polyamorous clients and clients practicing CNM.Ê Counselors will be able to identify specific modelsÊÊ(i.e., REBT, ACT, EFT)Ê and theories (i.e., Feminist Theory, Queer Theory) that are effective when working with clients.
